How often have you been at a baseball game expecting the ball to hit the stands?
Hample has scored nearly 3,000 baseballs at 40 different Major League stadiums in the United States.
Here are ten essential tips to get one:
- Arrive early: teams warming up one to two weeks before the game go first to the gate. You should have fewer visitors competing for dirty or homemade balls, and sometimes you’ll find balls lying on chairs when you arrive.
- Lay the transition: you have to maneuver to increase your chances. “Don’t get trapped in the middle of a very long row. You have to be able to jump over and keep moving, “says Hemple.
- Play to your interest: look at the lineups ahead of time, which means understanding how many right and left-handed players are about to appear. Most right-handed batsmen will hit first base, left-handed bouncer, third base for a foul ball. Pick a chair in the arena like this.
- Ask politely: when the clubs warm up, they often throw pieces of their fans from the stands. “And the players really love to toss pieces to the kids,” says Hemple.
- Acquire style for each participating team: players on the street want to see their fans and, of course, often reward them by tossing them a piece. Change the jacket depending on the locals.
So, how to properly catch a baseball?
This is a very busy baseball arena and security is tight – you can’t get into the dugout before the game like in many stadiums. You can catch a lot of balls that fall into the gap. Since they really lack an edge, you will need a special ball catcher.
